bold & beautiful!
Theatrical make-up can be immense fun and heavily dramatic. Or not! The nature of the setting and the proximity of the audience to the performers all influence the finished look of the make-up. Versatility of style is called for to ensure the features of the actors are neither lost nor look unconvincing when seen from a distance.
However, todays modern lighting allows stage make-up to resemble 'street' make-up; it no longer needs to be greasepaint that is slathered on and scrapped off afterwards! You can still use your favourite brands, but with careful use of light and shade, you will not look 'washed out'.

No worries!
wigs & hair
Wigs, hairstyling and barbering all play a major part of the make-up artists call when working in theatre. 'Wiggies' need to work quickly, consistently and skillfully - especially when the Understudy is called upon to replace at a moments notice!
Touring as a 'Wiggie' with a theatre company is one of the most fun aspects of this role. Churning out an average of eight shows per week all over the country is both challenging and rewarding!
